About Meridian Academy
Discover our story, our mission, and the people who bring it to life every day.
Inspiring the Best in Each to Seek the Best for All
Meridian Academy was founded on a simple but radical belief: that academic rigor and genuine warmth are not opposites — they are partners. We prepare students for the challenges ahead not by pushing harder, but by caring deeper.
Our mission calls us to know every child as an individual, to honor their curiosity, and to help them discover what they are capable of when they are truly supported. From the youngest kindergartners to our graduating eighth graders, every student at Meridian is seen, heard, and challenged to grow.
Our History
Nearly Four Decades of Purpose
From 42 students in a converted church hall to a 42-acre campus serving over 400 families — Meridian's story is one of steady growth guided by enduring values.
A Vision Takes Root
Founded by a group of Austin educators and parents who believed that academic rigor and creative freedom could coexist. Meridian opened its doors with 42 students and a dream.
Campus Expansion
Growing enrollment led to the acquisition of 20 additional acres, transforming our campus into the sprawling, tree-shaded grounds families love today.
The Arts Center Opens
A dedicated performing and visual arts center gave students a professional-quality stage, gallery space, and studios — making the arts a pillar of the Meridian experience.
STEM Program Launches
Meridian became one of the first K–8 schools in Texas to integrate a dedicated STEM curriculum, complete with a maker space and partnerships with local tech companies.
New Athletic Complex
A state-of-the-art gymnasium, aquatic center, and renovated playing fields brought our athletics program to a new level — while keeping the focus on participation and character.
Innovation Lab & Beyond
Our newest addition: a 5,000-square-foot Innovation Lab where students design, prototype, and solve real problems. Meridian continues to evolve while staying true to its founding values.

From the Head of School
A Message from Dr. Osei-Bonsu
Dear Meridian Families and Friends,
When I walk through our hallways each morning, I see something that never gets old: children who are genuinely excited to be here. They arrive with questions, with projects tucked under their arms, with stories about what they discovered yesterday and what they want to explore today.
That energy is not an accident. It is the result of a community — teachers, families, and students — who share a belief that learning should be joyful, challenging, and deeply personal. At Meridian, we do not simply deliver a curriculum. We cultivate a culture where curiosity is celebrated, where character is modeled, and where every child feels they belong.
I invite you to visit us, ask hard questions, and see for yourself what makes this place special. Meridian is not for everyone — and that is by design. But for the families who find their way here, it becomes something irreplaceable.
With warmth and purpose,
Dr. Margaret Osei-Bonsu

“Diversity is not a box we check — it is the air we breathe. Our students learn from each other's stories as much as they learn from any textbook.”
— Dr. Margaret Osei-Bonsu, Head of School
Meridian Academy is committed to building a community where every family feels welcome and every child feels represented. Our students come from 24 nationalities and a wide range of backgrounds, and that diversity enriches every classroom conversation.
Through our curriculum, our hiring practices, and our community programming, we actively work to ensure that inclusion is not just a value we state — but one we live every day.
