Academics at Meridian

A rigorous, joyful curriculum that sparks lifelong learning and genuine intellectual curiosity.

Our Approach

Learning That Sticks

At Meridian, we believe the best education happens when students are active participants in their own learning — not passive recipients of information. Our project-based curriculum challenges students to ask questions, test hypotheses, and defend their thinking.

Critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and social-emotional development are not additions to our program — they are the foundation of it.

“The best moment in my day is when a student says, ‘Wait — what if we tried it this way?’ That's when real learning begins.”

— Mr. Roberto Garza, Science Faculty

“We don't teach subjects — we teach children. The curriculum is a vehicle, but the relationship is the engine.”

— Ms. Priya Sharma, Lower School Director

Lower School

Kindergarten Through 4th Grade

In the early years, learning begins with wonder. Our youngest students explore through play, hands-on experiments, and collaborative projects — building strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, and social skills that will serve them for a lifetime.

By third and fourth grade, the classroom shifts toward more structured academics, but the joy of discovery never leaves. Students begin research projects, read chapter books, and engage with increasingly complex mathematical thinking.

Upper School

5th Through 8th Grade

The Upper School is where Meridian students begin to stretch. Expectations rise, electives expand, and students take ownership of their learning through independent research, Socratic seminars, and leadership opportunities.

By eighth grade, our students are prepared — academically, socially, and emotionally — for the rigors of the best high schools in the region. More importantly, they are prepared to be themselves.

  • English Language Arts & Literature
  • Pre-Algebra through Algebra I
  • Biology, Chemistry & Physics Foundations
  • World History & Civics
  • Spanish & Mandarin Chinese
  • Elective Rotations (Semester-Based)

Signature Programs

Where Passion Meets Purpose

These programs define the Meridian difference — giving students the tools and inspiration to pursue their interests deeply.

STEM & Innovation Lab

Our 5,000-square-foot Innovation Lab is where ideas become prototypes. From robotics and coding to environmental engineering, students tackle real problems with real tools — 3D printers, laser cutters, and a whole lot of curiosity.

World Languages

Spanish begins in kindergarten with songs, stories, and conversation. Mandarin Chinese joins in third grade. By eighth grade, our students carry the gift of communicating across cultures — and the cognitive benefits of bilingual thinking.

Arts Integration

Art is not a separate subject at Meridian — it is woven into everything. Students paint the water cycle, compose poetry about historical figures, and build sculptures that explore geometry. Creativity is a method, not just a medium.

Learning Support

Every Child Learns Differently — And That's a Strength

Our learning support team works alongside classroom teachers to ensure that every student is both challenged and supported. From differentiated instruction and small-group interventions to gifted programming, we meet students where they are and help them get where they want to go.

We don't believe in labels. We believe in understanding how each child thinks, what motivates them, and what they need to thrive. Our specialists bring warmth, expertise, and a deep respect for every learner.
