The Arts at Meridian
Creativity is not an elective here — it is woven into the fabric of every student's experience.
Our Philosophy
Where Every Student Is an Artist
At Meridian, the arts are not a supplement — they are a cornerstone. We believe that creative expression develops empathy, confidence, and the kind of flexible thinking that prepares students for a complex world.
Every student at Meridian participates in visual arts, music, and performing arts throughout their journey from kindergarten through 8th grade. Our dedicated faculty — practicing artists themselves — guide students from first brushstrokes to gallery exhibitions, from first notes to ensemble performances.

Visual Arts
See the World Differently
Our visual arts program spans drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, and mixed media. Lower School students explore materials freely, building foundational skills through hands-on experimentation. Upper School students develop personal portfolios and exhibit their work publicly.
The Meridian Studio — a bright, purpose-built space with natural light and professional-grade materials — is where students discover that art is not about perfection. It is about seeing, thinking, and expressing what words alone cannot.
Performing Arts
Find Your Voice on Stage
Meridian's performing arts program gives every student a chance to step into the spotlight — or work behind the scenes. From Lower School class plays to Upper School full-scale productions, our theater program builds confidence, teamwork, and storytelling skills.
Each year, our students produce two major performances: a fall musical and a spring dramatic production. Recent highlights include student-adapted versions of classic tales and original works written by our 7th and 8th graders. Whether acting, directing, designing sets, or managing sound, every role matters.

Music
Every Student Finds Their Instrument
Music at Meridian begins with rhythm and voice in kindergarten and grows into ensemble performance by Upper School. Every student receives instruction in music theory, ear training, and at least one instrument through our general music curriculum.
Upper School students may join band, orchestra, choir, or our award-winning jazz ensemble. Private lessons are available before and after school for students seeking deeper study. Our annual Winter Concert and Spring Recital are among the most beloved events on the Meridian calendar.
